Cappuccino vs Cafe Latte!?

After browsing through the website, now I know what is the difference between cappuccino and cafe latte.. :P

Both have similarity where they are both originated from Italy, so we can call them as "Italian cofee".. not like Ipoh white coffee, nationality is malaysian.. wink wink.. :P

Well, both Cappuccino and Cafe Latte are prepared with Espresso, steamed milk and steamed milk foam.. Hmm.. then why they tasted differently?

Cappuccino has much less steamed milk as compared to Cafe Latte. A Cafe Latte is prepared with 1/3 of espresso and 2/3 of steamed milk, sometimes with a little bit of milk foam.

The making of Cafe Latte looks simple.
1. Brew a single shot of espresso.
2. Add steamed milk to fill up the mug.
3. Flavored with Italian syrups.
4. Sometimes, it also can be flavored with nuts like hazelnut and almond.

In France, they called it as Cafe Latte au Lait. It is often served in a bowl instead of a cup, so that French can dunk brioche and croissants. Hmm.. sounds familiar.. like we dip our Roti Kok into kopiO. :P

Brioche

VS.

Roti Kok??

While Cappuccino is made up of 1/3 of espresso, 1/3 of steamed milk and 1/3 of milk foam. In order to layer the milk and espresso, the hot steamed milk need to be put in rest awhile to separate the foam (top) and milk (bottom). Brew the espresso into pitcher first as ceramic or glass will absorb too much heat. This is how it works:

1. Pour steamed milk into bottom third of the cup.
2. Then, pour espresso slowly into steamed milk.
3. Spoon the milk foam on top to fill up the last 1/3 portion.
4. Sprinkle some cocoa powder or cinnamon on top.

BK, no wonder, when you keep stirring your cappuccino, the bubbles go away and your cappuccino just left half.. haha :P So, no complaint, or else it is no longer Cappuccino but Cafe Latte..
